Friday Favorites

Happy Friday. In carrying on the tradition of blogging again, here are my Friday Favorites:

I'm currently obsessed with these retro high waisted two pieces.
I would love to be able to pull this off.

I've officially adopted yellow as my summer color.
This dress/vest combo is adorbs.

I'm already getting in the holiday spirit
and I've  been thinking about all the fun decorating I want to do in our new house.
These candy corn candles are so festive and easy!
And who doesn't love to decorate with sweets?

As summer comes to a close I can't help but think about all the sweet students I'll be missing this year! I'm loving spending  the days with my precious girl but as my favorite part of the year begins and teachers begin setting up their classrooms and meeting their new students I will be a smidge jelly of all the fun they'll be having;)

And of course my all time fave: My girl B and her new bling!
Thank goodness for PT's ability to resist the urge to cry and protest when B cries and protests.
We did great.
In fact, I didn't even cry this time;)

Happy weekend!

Brooklyn- Birth Story

I don't even know where to begin.

I guess at the beginning.

On May 15th, 2013 I went in for my very last check up before B's due date. My BP was high so my doctor wanted to send me over to the hospital to have them monitor it and make sure everything was OK. I called PT and we headed over. While there I was a nervous wreck and my BP only got higher. That's when they said it, "We're gonna go ahead and get this started".

WHAT?! I was not prepared. I know, I had like a year of her growing in my belly to prep for this day but no, I was not expecting all this. I thought for sure she would be weeks late and I'd be begging the doc to let me have her but this? She was coming, I was going to meet my daughter like, NOW? They decided to keep me over night and try to get my body to start labor naturally. This was the longest night ever. I was soo anxious about meeting my baby. I slept about 30 mins. And at 7:30 am I woke up to a balloon popping inside of me. That would be my water. Breaking. Hello Labor!

Strangely, I got incredibly calm when this happened. I was so beyond ready to now meet this miracle that I had been carrying around for 10 months. I pushed for 20 minutes and at 11:32 am my baby was born! I realize that this is not normal for first time mothers and I am so incredibly thankful for my easy delivery. Apparently I get it from my mama. The minute the doctor handed me my girl I knew... My life was over. It was now completely dedicated to this sweet, tiny, angelic person that I was holding in my arms. The feeling of joy that overwhelmed me is one I cannot put into words. All I kept saying over and over was thank you God, thank you God. And I am still saying this now. I was SO ecstatic. Peter and I immediately fell in love with this person. And we are so thankful for her. God has given us one of His children to care for and share with her who Jesus is and how much he loves her. I am so grateful for this important task. She is absolute perfection.

My love, my heart, my daughter. Brooklyn Marie.

Our House.

"The thing I love most about my home is who I share it with." Truth. I'd be happy anywhere as long as I had my family. Just so happens God decided that place should be the most perfect amazing house I could have asked for! I feel SO blessed. After searching for what felt like years, God gave us the perfect place to call home. Picture this: I'm 9 months pregnant, Peter is graduating like, yesterday and it's time for him to start work...4 hours from where we are living at the current moment. We've looked at 1000+ homes in Clearwater, fallen in love with some, only to be broken up with due to a number of different reasons. I was beginning to think we were never going to find "the one". I was getting desperate. At one point I think I told Peter I would be fine living on a camp site in an RV and eating hot dogs every night (which IDK sounds kind of OK to me...). Thankfully my husband is MUCH more patient and rational than I am and we waited. Weeks went by and the birth of our baby girl happened and at that moment, nothing else mattered. I could live ANYWHERE as long as I had this precious gift with me. The next day, our perfect house was ours. Gods timing is perfect. And although I try to resist it and do things my way, he continues to show me over and over that He's got it. He's in control. (thankfully!)

We never stepped foot inside our house until the day we moved in. We had seen pictures and videos of it and had never even felt the space, or closets (most important;)); But once inside, everything was even better than we could have imagined. We love our home. God is so so good.

ConGRADulations!

In the last three years I've learned a couple things about law.

1. No one is proven "innocent". This was learned after I asked if the defendant was proven innocent and it was followed with a laugh of hysteria from my husband (please note that I used the term "defendant" properly, at least I think I used it properly) as he explained that he was proven "not guilty" and that the jury does not vote on innocence.

2. I would not make a good attorney. Not only could I never get through those books you have to read in law school, or briefs you have to write ( still not sure what a brief entails; just know they are long), There is no way I could handle the countless hours you have to spend studying for those exams that your whole grade depends on. It takes a certain kind of person to get through law school and I am not one of them.

I have seen first hand the hard work and dedication that goes into graduating law school. More specifically I have watched what one may call and "over achiever" graduate law school. And that my friends, is a sight to see. I have seen someone read page after page of an outline that they already know because they've made note cards and typed every word onto a word doc. I have watched someone memorize every definition they could possibly think of because "you never know if it will be on the exam". I have watched someone get bummed over a 92. Yes, a 92 bummed my husband out. I have witnessed the hardest working man I know absolutely dominate law school. To say I'm proud of him is quite the understatement. I may not have learned much about the law but I certainly learned a lot about my husband. He worked HARD. He gives nothing but his best at all times. To him, good is not good enough, he strives to be GREAT at all he does. Not just in law school and work, but as a husband, now father, and follower of Christ. He is a man to be admired. And I am more amazed by him every day. I know this sounds cheese ball and overly complimentary but he is more than deserving of these affirmations. He is exactly the type of person I want on my team. He gives his all, every time, all the time. I am so proud of him for his accomplishments and I praise God for the goodness He has bestowed upon our family. I know that as Peter prepares for the bar exam, God will be guiding him to work just as hard as ever. I have the utmost confidence in him as a man, husband, and soon to be attorney;)

Congrats PT!

Breaking the hiatus.

Well hello. I'm back...for a minute. I've thought about blogging for awhile now but for some reason I've come up with a million things to be "too busy" with that I haven't been back. In that time only a few minor things have changed. My husband graduated Law School, we bought a house, oh...and I birthed a child;) I will absolutely get into all those things soon but for now I just want to pop in and let you know I've missed you. I promise to return soon. Maybe even today!
